Benjamin Bouvier

Rust hacker - Element

Maxwell
Benjamin has worked on a few Rust open-source projects over the last years, including the Cranelift compiler project and the Wasmtime WebAssembly virtual machine, and now works on the Matrix SDK powering a new generation of Matrix clients. In addition to contributing to multiple open-source projects like Kresus, an open-source personal finance manager, one can sometimes enjoy his less serious contributions like the Rouille programming language, or hear him play random covers on a ukulele or sing in a choir group (please don't ask me to sing alone, though, or I may or may not melt into the ground instantly).

Arthur Carcano

Principal Rust Engineer - OCamlPro

Maxwell
When he was a kid, Arthur wanted to be a stuntman or sewage worker. Time passed by and after graduating from ENS and obtaining a PhD, Arthur is now a research and development engineer at OCamlPro, where in specializes in Rust but sometimes still indulges in monad transformers. He is interested in performance optimization, software design, and crafting powerful and user-friendly tools. Despite never becoming a stuntman, Arthur enjoys deep dives in technical topics, and when not coding, he tries to learn how to play the trumpet and takes part in loudness contests with his upstairs neighbors' two years old child.

Omar Hiari

Head of Research @ Connected Motion also Founder of The Embedded Rustacean

Maxwell
I am the Head of Research at Connected Motion, a company focused on innovative mobility solutions. My journey spans academia, where I was a Computer Engineering professor, and the automotive industry, where I gained experience in automotive embedded electronics technologies. I am also the founder of The Embedded Rustacean, a newsletter and blog dedicated to advancing embedded Rust education. My combined background in academia and industry fuels my passion for simplifying complex topics. Since 2022, I've been an active member of the Rust community and authored Simplified Embedded Rust to help making embedded development with Rust more accessible by easing the learning curve.

Outside of tech, I love exploring the culinary arts, with a particular passion for perfecting homemade pizza and experimenting with new recipes.

Fun fact: I’m convinced there’s always a solution to any problem—whether it’s debugging hardware or achieving the perfect pizza crust.

Guillaume Boisseau

Research Engineer - Inria

Maxwell
I've been a compiler contributor since 2019, focusing obsessively on anything related to patterns and pattern-matching in the language. Rust is my most time-consuming hobby but while I'm waiting for code to compile I like to dance and to sing covers of video game music in a choir. Fun fact: my first PR to rust was 80 commits long and took me two months to write; it was not accepted.
